Jason Castro: Finally putting out a cd!

Back in March, Jason Castro got a record deal with Atlantic Records. He already had written about 40 songs and has picked several for his cd set to release on November 17th.

His single "Let's Just Fall In Love Again" was released on iTunes a couple weeks ago and hit the top 40s in the most purchased songs. He seems to have kept true to his original sound that was very prominent during his stay on American Idol. The song is very upbeat and light, with a noticeable lean to an acoustic guitar sound.

Updates on Jason can be found here: http://www.atlanticrecords.com/jasoncastro

Visit his site to watch videos, see pictures, listen to his single, or pre-order his cd:

You can also follow him on Twitter or Facebook- just look him up.

More updates to come! :)

Jack Johnson

Jack Johnson

Jack Johnson is this surfer from Hawaii.....who also plays guitar. What better combination could there be?? Anyways, his acoustic music and voice combine to create a unique sound that is really laidback and makes you smile. You just cannot help liking him and his music.

His most recent CD is called Sleep Through the Static. My favorite songs, out of all his cds, are "Sitting, Waiting, Wishing", "Banana Pancakes", "Better Together"(from In Between Dreams), "Talk of the Town" (from the Curious George movie soundtrack), "Hope", and "Go On"(from Sleep Through the Static). I love almost everything he does, though.

American Idol Winner: DAVID COOK!!!!!!!!!!

The winner of American Idol Season 7 is David Cook!!!!!!! YAY! Though I thought that both he and David Archuleta were very good performers, Cook was always more risky. He also played instruments more often and preformed to the crowd better. The stars included some of the American Idol finalists (namely Jason Castro, Brooke White, Syesha Mercado, Michael Johns, & Carly Smithson), Bryan Adams, the Jonas Brothers, Seal, Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks, OneRepublic, and several others.
Some pictures from the Season Finale that came on Wednesday:

Archuleta and Cook singing "Hero". Awesome performance! They sound good together.

The top 6 guys performed together towards the beginning of the show. These 4 seemed to be enjoying the song- Bryan Adams' "Summer of '69".

Close-up of Jason performing in this song.

Jason Castro performed "Hallelujah", once again. This time, it seemed he had a stronger emotional connection with the song. This was my favorite performance, obviously.

David Cook tears up after Ryan Seacrest announces that he is the new American Idol.

American Idol: Season 7

NOTE: SEASON FINALE of AMERICAN IDOL is on 20th (performances) and 21st (results)

It is on the top 2 now, and I am very sorry I never was able to post about Jason Castro before he got voted off. :(

So I used to really like to watch American Idol. Currently, it comes on every Tuesday and Wednesday night from 8 to 9 on Tuesdays and from 9 to 10 on Wednesdays The first night are the performances and the last night is the results show.
The Top 2 are:
  • David Cook (a very talented performer, a bit on the rocky side)
  • David Archuleta (the so-called "little boy" [17 years old] that everyone loves and sings most everything)
Jason only made the top 4, like Daughtry, b/c he totally messed up "I Shot the Sheriff" by Bob Marley (according to the judges) and forgot a few words on "Mr. Tambourine Man" by Bob Dylan, although this song fit Jason well and he recovered well.
He stayed happy throughout the show, even when he found out he was going home. To watch the results show for that night, go to www.youtube.com and search for Jason Castro.

Jason has the most unique voice of anyone on the show this season and has got the uniqueness goin' with his dreads, his personality, and his acoustic guitar (which sounds amazing when he plays).
I bought several of his songs (the studio versions are much better than the performances most times I think b/c of the nervousness of being on stage) and they are:

Daydream
(LIVE)- Top 24
If I Fell (the most amazing song ever)- Top 12
Michelle- Top 11
Fragile- Top 10
Over the Rainbow(also an awesome song)- Top 8
I Don't Wanna Cry (much different than the original)- Top 7
Forever In Blue Jeans- Top 5
Mr. Tambourine Man- Top 4

Read this article: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/headline/features/5765629.html
to hear Jason's thoughts about the show and about him getting off.
I have also bought the video version of If I Fell and Daydream and plan on buying several other songs and videos sometime. Check him out. And be looking for a CD to come out eventually, as he is very talented.
And for the record, Jason is a Christian as well.....

Rebecca St. James

Rebecca St. James is from Australia and is my absolute favorite music artist. I've been listening to her music for about 5 years now. I have 8 of her CDs (all but 2): Pray, Transform, Worship God, Wait for Me: The Best From Rebecca St. James, Live Worship: Blessed Be Your Name, If I Had One Chance to Tell You Something, aLive in Florida, and several singles.

"A multiple Dove Award winner as well as a winner of America’s most prestigious musical Award—the Grammy®—Australian born REBECCA ST. JAMES has throughout the late ‘90’s until present been considered to be a major defining female voice in contemporary Christian Music.
With the dawning of 2007, her groundbreaking album project Pray has most recently achieved RIAA gold record status—following in the footsteps of the previously gold certified RSJ album God.

In January 2007, she was for the 6th consecutive year named “Favorite Female Artist” in Contemporary Christian Music by the more than 27,000 votes cast by readers of CCM Magazine, considered the flagship publication of the Christian genre. Rebecca also repeated with he “Best Female Artist of 2006” award from one of Christian music’s highest traffic music sites—Christianitytoday.com—her fourth consecutive year to be given this honor With sales of her music soaring around the globe, her signature blend of modern pop/rock sensibilities and lyrics of unwavering devotion, has blazed straight to the heart of an entire generation. Along the road of more than 200 concert dates a year, her path has led to 17 Top 10 singles--#9 of which reached the #1 spot on the charts.

In April of 2006, she won yet another Dove Award--Christian music’s highest honor—for her participation in the “Special Event Album Of The Year”—for the Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe, for which her dramatically charged song Lion was a centerpiece.

CRW Magazine has named Rebecca to the list of the “50 Most Influential People in Contemporary Music.” Her book, “Wait For Me,” now in a 9th printing reached the #1 spot on the prestigious CBA (Young Adult) book chart in 2003, with Rebecca’s passionate, and often controversial, challenge to young people to “stand strong” with her on issues of sexual purity. She closed out 2004 with the much anticipated release of her new book, “SHE,”on Tyndale. An impactful “where the rubber meets the road guidebook,” for women of her generation, in “SHE” Rebecca gives a controversial and impassioned voice for a modern womanhood based on a return to biblical principles. The “teen” edition of the book—SHE TEEN—launched in September of ’05—quickly reaching #1 on the CBA Young Adult Chart. Her latest album If I Had One Chance To Tell You Something released in November of ’05 from EMI. One of the most anticipated albums in recent Christian Music history, it contains Rebecca’s trademarked passion for unique self-written music—from rock and pop to symphony—her first full on studio album in five years If I Had One Chance To Tell You Something sonically embraces her passionate lyrics of devotion and praise to God.

January of 2006 found Rebecca in Rwanda, Africa for on the ground mission work and the filming of a television special in her role as a global spokes person for Compassion International. She co-hosted the 2006 Dove Awards presented in Nashville in April and in May of last year gave a prestigious special performance for President George W. Bush at the White House in Washington, D.C.

With the opening of 2007, Rebecca St. James is in March launching the much anticipated Worship Revolution Tour with fellow international Christian rock band Delirious?"

Shawn McDonald

I started
listening to
Shawn McDonald
a few months ago
after hearing
'Gravity'
on the radio.
I bought his songs
'Gravity' and
'Take my Hand'
(from Simply Nothing)
on iTunes in June and I still haven't gotten
tired of them. 'Take my Hand' is actually my
favorite of the two. His first album, Simply
Nothing, was released in 2004.

I love how he plays the acoustic guitar and sings. His voice is great. I also bought Live in Seattle in July, and he sounds just as good in concert. He has 4 CDs out along with several singles. His music is ideal for fans of pop praise with a strong acoustic emphasis.

Coming from a recent past of drugs and alcohol, jail time, and dropping out of college, this is amazing and could only be because of God. To read an interview about his past, go to:

http://www.christianitytoday.com.au/music/interviews/2004/shawnmcdonald-0904.html

His testimony is also on his website.

Shawn married Kate, older sister of Christian recording artist, Bethany Dillon, on May 28, 2005. He has a son, Cohen, who was born on March 29th, 2007.

Shawn and Cohen

Shawn's new CD:

You can buy it on iTunes (comes with "Greed" music video- like the best song) or at a local store that sells CDs. This CD is awesome!!!!!! Clarity, Shadowlands, and Greed are definitely the best. His stuff on this CD is way better than Ripen or Scattered Pieces LIVE......definitely a return to his "roots"-- his 1st CD. Check it out- the acoustic guitar is awesome, esp. on the 3 aforementioned songs.
